The hotel I'm staying at in Cologne for a week (Lyskirchen) charges 15
EUR/day to park a car there. That seems somewhat expensive. Is it a
good idea to park on the street (or is that even possible) in Cologne? |

These 15 EUR are cheaper than a public parking for 24 hours.
If you use the car during the daytime, you can look in public
parkings, because that might be cheaper for only 8 to 10 hours.
Parking on the streets should be possible as well, but in this area
the meters must be used until 23:00h (normally from 08:00h on).
Greetings from Cologne

Outside the city center in residential areas it is no problem to park your
car on the street. It is possible and no safety-problem.
But in the center (where your Hotel ist) there are is no free parking,
you'll pay something like 2 EUR/hour (only Sunday parking is free). So the
15 EUR sounds like a good deal to me.
If you have a tram ticket you could consider a park&ride parking lot. These
are for commuters, a bit outside the city, right at a tram station and
free.
