However, I still find that usenet is one of the better sources of
honest information. Over-moderated forums can be very bland. But
tripadvisor, thorntree, indiamike and similar forums are also becoming
very useful traveller's aids.
I tend to find if you ask a specific question you'll still get useful
answers. I got helpful answers to a somewhat specific question about
beach costs in Viareggio a few weeks ago. I also got good answers in
tripadvisor.com (including from a former denizen of these parts) but the
point is that both forums were useful. I find tripadvisor useful for
specifc hotel reviews, but even then I tend to want a range of reviews
so I can read between the lines where possible.
